Post Production Reflection

The locations we used were all at a house. To be specific we used a bedroom, bathroom, roof, and the side of the house to film our whole project. We used these four places in and near a house because that’s where our film took place. We needed a house that had a roof that we could stand on to have the person fake jump off of. We need a house that had a small fence for the person to jump off of so it looked like they were jumping off the roof.

Ethan played the role of the main character. Thompson and I filmed and edited the film. We nominated Ethan to be the main character because he is a real actor. Thompson and I filmed and edited the project because Thompson is very good with Imovie.

There were two major challenges that we faced while shooting our video. One was that we had trouble making the film long. To fix this problem we tried to make scenes in slow-mo. Our film did not meet the requirements of seven to ten minutes. The other problem that we faced as a group was when we were editing. When Ethan jumped off the and broke his leg he started swearing a lot so we spent a long time trying to find the right censored beep for this. After finding that beep that we wanted, it was hard to pinpoint exactly were he was swearing.

Another challenge we faced while editing was we where trying to make the movie longer by finding parts that we could put in slow motion. Finding these parts was rather difficult. We managed to find some parts that we could make slower.

We tried to stay on topic with our film but it did not work out so well. Part of our video was the same as our storyboard. The scene in the room, washroom, and getting outside of the house was the same as the storyboard but after that we got off topic. Ethan broke his leg after jumping off the roof, which was not part of the film. Even though we did not stick to our storyboard, I think that our editing is going to make up for it. I think that part of our film was successfully translated but the second half was not.

Overall our group worked well together. We did not have any disagreements between the three of us. We all had the same ideas and always agreed. I don’t remember all the decisions I made but one was having the camera pointed at the mirror in the bathroom looking at Ethan.

Voice Thread Blog

Voice Thread is a good tool that is not very hard to use. Voice Thread does many things. What Voice Thread does is it allows you to record a voice/video. Voice Thread enables you to take pictures using your webcam or use pictures on your computer to create your video. You can record you voice through your phone. If you dont want to make a video than you can use a picture from your computer and record your voice only using the picture on the screen.

I think Voice Thread is a very good tool because it allows you to do many things on one website. Other reasons why I think Voice Thread is a good website because it is easy to use and does not involve a lot of steps for you to get to your finished product. You can share your Voice Thread to other people, you could send it to people via email or link it to Facebook pages.

There is one thing I dont like about Voice Thread and that is, that you could use Imovie and Garage Band instead. Even though you could use Imovie and Garage Band, Voice Thread doesn't take as many steps. When using Imovie and Garage Band you have to flip between the two of them if you want a picture or a film to go with your voice. With Voice Thread you only need to flip through the website.

Good or Bad Web Designs
Macallum Tepsich

The second you click on this website, you know that this website is going to be bad. The website takes way to long to load because of all the pop-ups and moving items. This website is dealing with a topic that should be taken seriously but the website is not professional. There are spinning/moving advertisements everywhere on the page. They layout of the website is not good because it is too long with too many unnecessary items on it. There are to many flashing lights and things moving that it is hard to focus on one object. I have nothing nice to say about this website.

Film Project: Pre-production Reflection

Idea Brainstorming and Pitch

Our group did not do a lot of thinking before creating the storyboard and the pitch. Our ideas flowed and worked well together. We did not brainstorm and then write our pitch we just went right into writing our pitch. As we were writing our pitch we kept coming up with better ideas that worked well with our other ideas.

Script Process

Our group did not have a set script. The script that we are using to make our film is on the storyboard. We think that the film would be better with little dialogue. There are only a couple lines of dialogue. The teacher says a couple line in the class and the students says a couple lines on their way to school.

Storyboard

Our storyboard is descriptive and shows what’s going to happen in our movie very clearly.

Our group did not have any disagreements. We worked well together and our ideas linked together nicely. When we were writing the storyboard and the script we all did the same amount of work. I made most of my contribution to the film it self. The ideas that I had were not big but I think they will help the film.

In my opinion the script was the hardest to write. Most people would say that it was easy but in our case we did not have a lot of dialogue so it was hard to make a full script. We overcame this problem by writing the dialogue on the storyboard and having loose dialogue.

When we overcame the dialogue problem, the rest of project went well. I don’t think that if we didn’t come up with the idea to put the dialogue into the storyboard, it wouldn’t have made a huge impact on the quality of out film.

Film Review

My favorite movie is Gladiator. The movie was directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe. Gladiator was released on May 5th 2000. I would categorize the movie as an action/adventure because it is a very bloody movie and it had a lot of fight scenes. Gladiator is about Maximus, the main character leading the Roman army to a victory over the Germanic barbarians. Maximus was offered to lead but the son of the empire ruins it for him. I would also categorize Gladiator as an adventure because the main character is leading the Romans to a victory against the Germans and we get to see how he does this. The movie is appealing to me because I like movie’s that have action in them and have a good story line. What makes Gladiator a great film is that it has a good plot and the fight scenes were thought through and executed well.

Section For The Yearbook

The sports section interests me because I am an athletic person and I know what is happening in the RSGC world of sports.

Using the technology we learnt in class I would have scattered pictures with writing describing them around the picture.

I will need Adobe Photoshop, In-Design, sports photos, and text.

Photoshop Assignment: Changes

Changes

1. I mage the background layer black and white.

2. I then erased the leaves and the leaves on the ground. This made the leaves the original colour.

3. To get the lens flare in needed to go to the tool bar at the top and select the filter and below that there is a thing that says render, I clicked on that and after it showed me four options, one was lens flare. When I clicked on lens flare I was able to adjust the amount of light and were the light was coming from.

4. One thing that I would have changed would have been the amount of light that was produced from the lens flare.
